Welcome to drdavidanderegg.com! The oh-so-lightly-retouched picture above is of me, David Anderegg, PhD. I am a clinical psychologist practicing in Lenox, Massachusetts and a member of the faculty of Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont. I am also an author writing about (among other things) children and parents in contemporary culture.

Those who know my work may be familiar with my Luddite tendencies: I am one of those people who carries a cell phone but usually forgets to turn it on. But after years of foot-dragging, I finally became convinced that my own website was the best way to centralize communications about my various professional and avocational activities (I hate the word amateur, despite its lovely etymology). A brief stroll around the cyberscape here will acquaint you with the following:

New Book: Nerds: Who They Are and Why We Need More of Them

My new book was published on January 1, 2008. This page contains a desciption of the book, selected reviews, and a link to a video interview with me on the topic of nerds.

Biography

The whole low-down on the man now known as drdavidanderegg.com.

Worried All the Time

My first book, Worried All the Time: Rediscovering the Joy of Parenting in an Age of Anxiety, was published in 2003. This page contains a description, Table of Contents, reviews, a brief excerpt, and information about ordering autographed copies.

Archived Columns

For many years, I wrote a monthly column on child development, education and mental health issues in Berkshire HomeStyle magazine. This page contains some selected columns and other published short pieces from various sources. New "occasional pieces" on psychology, culture or even politics will appear here as well.

Aux Pioneers

Among my several authorly activities in recent years was the publication of a novel in serial form, Aux Pioneers. This page contains the story of the story, and the first several installments. For those of you who always wanted to read it from the beginning, here’s your chance.

Music Projects

Information about my musical activities, including my a capella group, my recent compositions for men’s a cappella chorus and mixed-voice choruses, and the world’s first-or-at-least-most-recent a cappella opera, What Owls Do. Yes, you may contact me about sheet music; no, I have not yet figured out sound clips or mp3s. (See above, Luddite tendencies.)

Self-explanatory, right?
